Who are we?
We are a team of volunteers who take
assemblies and lunch time clubs on a regular basis
in 40 schools. In an average year we take well over 300
assemblies and see over 50,000 children and
staff. We also take R.E. lessons and are often invited
to speak at Easter, Harvest, Christmas and other special
services.
What do we
teach?
All our input in schools,
reflects the broad traditions of Christianity based on
the Bible. We are always careful to be sensitive to those
of other faiths and never see a school assembly as a
pulpit from which to preach. We share the truth of
scripture in a relevant and age appropriate
way.
How is BSYW
Funded?
We do not receive any finance from the Education
Authority or from any central church funding. We raise
our own support and rely solely on the generosity of
local churches, individuals and some local schools.
B.S.Y.W. does not charge schools for their visits. The
work is endorsed by many church leaders from different
denominations.
Why is BSYW so
successful?
The success of the ministry of B.S.Y.W. is
firstly down to Gods faithfulness to us and also to the
loyal support and encouragement of local Christians who
support the work in prayer (following the prayer diary
issued every half term) and to those who faithfully give
financially.
What do schools think of
BSYW?
A measure of the trust that we have gained with
local schools is the number of times we have been invited
to take assemblies during schools O.F.S.T.E.D.
inspections. We have received many positive comments from
the schools inspectors which are often recorded in the
schools reports. Head teachers and staff greatly value
the work of B.S.Y.W. and welcome us as part of the school
family.
